White Waves

Image

I am snow. I pile high and higher on the ground.

You are wind. You change everything you touch.

Yes, I am frozen; the white skeleton of what I used to be.

And yet, do you still change me?

No longer do I climb up high along the shore,

no longer do I leave my mark along the sand.

No longer am I clear blue water- no.

You made me soar,

you made me crash,

you left me still-

but now I stand my ground.

Yes, I am frozen; the white skeleton of what I used to be.

I am unchanging.

You pass right overhead, leaving me untouched

except for tiny flattened waves just upon the surface-

almost more like cracks upon my delicate face.

Yes, even though I’m frozen

I will always be

mostly what I was.
